When the first Sonnys Cybershot where out I heard that it would take a long time for digital cameras to have the same quality as a film camera because it would take a long time for a digital camera to get to 30MB full frame, well we are already there and I still think film photography is that much better than todays DLSRs.
Fact is that film is costly and that is why is slowly dying and with it raw photography. Today everything has a filter, a photoshop, a template. It is like we are trying to paint pictures with our cameras and not trying to capture a moment.
I have an Canon AE-1 Program and it was my first camera. That camera will be my kids legacy even if by then there arent any films anymore to be bought.
I loved the kid with the 35mm camera story. Maybe one day we can teach our kids the same techniques.
By the way dont give up on your old 35mm just yet. Im software engineer and there is a trend of using mechanical keyboards now (old IBMs keyboards). It is said that the mechanical keyvoard brings that extra sensitivity that a developer is looking for… hopefully one day we can see a similar trend with 35mm
